This paper states the difference of tour area of outskirts of a city and scenic area,the conception and base characteristics of tour area of outskirts of a city.

Suburb’s tourist resort, with geographical superiority and resources superiority has already became people’s first choice to go to spend their leisure.

Based on SWOT analysis of outskirts tourism,this article pointed out that outskirts tourism of Chengdu had many advantages such as position,resource,market andorganization,and the main function of city outskirts was to protect the ecological landscape and satisfy the lofty sightseeing-need of the citizen.
