Based on the example of shenzhen Crystal Island International Plaza underground emporium,this paper discusses a series of topics in architectural fire control design for large underground commercial building,including but not limited to the division of fire compartment,setting of safety evacuation exit,calculation of exit width and conflict between sinking-style plaza and roof lanscape.

Analyses the main characteristics of the HVAC design in underground commercial building,introduces howto determine the temperature, humidity, minimum fresh airflow and dust concentration, the mode of airconditioning system, the design of return and exhaust air.

Because of the poor ventilation condition, no sunshine, less safety exits and long evacuation passages in underground commercial buildings, the quickly spreading fire and the heavy smoke will bring on occupants’hurt or death due to not evacuation in time when the fire occurs in these buildings.
