In this paper,novolac's character,which affected on the sensitivity of CTP plate was studied utilizing the property that the plate could be used not only in IR but also in UV.

Cyanate ester of novolac is synthesized with self-made novolac resin which has lower average molecular weight and little remains of dissociative phenol.

A stepwise base-acid catalyzed reaction was used to synthesize the pure o-cresol novolac and novolac with o-cresol as main component,both of which had high Mw and low Mw/Mn.
