嘉陵江

    长江上游支流。位于中国四川省东部。发源于陕西省凤县秦岭南麓。向西南流经陕西、甘肃、四川3省,到重庆市入长江。长1120千米,流域面积15.98万平方千米。主要支流有西汉水、白龙江、渠江、涪江等。上游穿行于山岭之中,河谷深邃狭窄,河床比降大;中、下游为四川盆地,地势平缓,在合川市附近纳渠、涪两江后,水量大增。横截华蓥山形成嘉陵江小三峡。天然年径流量(北碚站)696亿立方米。水能蕴藏量1522万千瓦,可开发量870万千瓦。多年平均输沙量1.57亿吨。流域位于亚热带范围内。冬春少雨,降水量主要集中在夏秋两季,约占年降水量的60%以上,夜雨率高,有巴山夜雨之称。洪水多出现在5~9月。上游洪水由西汉水、白龙江组成;中游洪水主要由东河、西河组成;下游主要由渠江、涪江组成。流域内洪旱灾害频繁。广元以下可通航。
