心的四腔之一，位于右心室的左后下方。近似圆锥形，左室壁厚约为右心室的3倍。左心室分为流入道和流出道两部分。流入道为左房室口至心尖一段的室腔，在左房室口周围的纤维环上附有二尖瓣。流出道是由心尖至主动脉口的一段左心室腔，又称主动脉前庭。流出道的去口为主动脉口，口周围纤维环上附着三个半月形的瓣膜，称主动脉瓣。瓣膜与动脉壁之间的内腔称主动脉窦。可分为左、右、后三个窦。左、右窦的动脉壁上，分别有左、右冠状动脉的开口。当心室收缩时，二尖瓣关闭，主动脉瓣开放，血液流入主动脉，心室舒张时，主动脉瓣关闭，阻止血液逆流入心室，同时二尖瓣开放，使左心房的血液流入左心室。
