准分子之所以被称为准分子是因为它不是稳定的分子,是在激光混合气体受到外来能量的激光所引起的一系列物理及化学反应中曾经形成但转瞬即逝的分子,其寿命仅为几十毫微秒,准分子激光是一种脉冲激光,因谐振腔内充入不同的稀有气体和卤素气体的混合物而有不同波长的激光产生。波长范围为157-353nm。
