性质:1984年12月发生在印度中央邦博帕尔市的重大公害事故。美国联合碳化物公司所属的一家农药厂发生地下储罐毒气泄漏。泄漏的毒物为异氰酸甲酯,这种毒气小剂量会引起炎症,大剂量会在喉部和肺部引起糜烂和发炎,剧烈呛咳,最后窒息而死。这次事故有2500人死亡,20多万人不同程度中毒,其中10万人可能终身残废、失明。毒气泄漏使大量食物和水源污染,牲畜和其他动物大量死亡,生态环境受到严重破坏。
