This paper comprehensively introduces the research and development of 12Cr2Mo1R steel heavy plate for hydrogenation equipment from aspects of domestic technology development, material research and production process,quality assessment results and product application, and also analyzes its technical and economic effect,showing that this subject has good economic benefit and social benefit.

The critical thickness of the plate,for which bainite microstructure predominates in the central zone along plate thickness direction after normalizing in air is determined to be 50mm from the simulation results by referring to the continuous cooling transformation(CCT) diagram of the 12Cr2Mo1R steel and the manufacturing conditions.

For establishing a relationship between the impact toughness and microstructures,the effects of simulated post weld heat treatment(PWHT) and step cooling heat treatment on the microstructures and impact properties of 12Cr2Mo1R steel heavy plate for hydrogen reforming equipment were studied.
