紫外线 ultraviolet ray 波长介于可见光短波极限与X射线长波端之间的电磁辐射,波长范围约为4000~10埃。紫外线可分近紫外、远紫外和真空紫外3个区,近紫外区与可见光的紫端相接,真空紫外区与X射线相接。空气对波长短于2000 埃的紫外线有较强吸收,必须在真空中才能有效地传播,故名真空紫外线。大气层外的臭氧层对紫外线有强烈吸收,可保护地球上的生物免遭太阳辐射中紫外线的伤害。普通玻璃对紫外线有较强吸收,因而在紫外区使用的光学元件必须采用能透过紫外线的材料,如石英等。紫外线能使多种物质激发荧光(见固体发光),常见的荧光灯就是利用荧光粉将放电管产生的紫外线转换成可见光以供照明。紫外线能杀菌,医学上可用来治疗皮肤病。强紫外线对皮肤和眼睛可造成伤害。 人工紫外光源一般是利用气体的弧光放电,如汞弧灯和氙弧灯等;同步辐射源可辐射连续谱紫外线。检测紫外线一般用光电管、半导体光电元件及感光乳胶等。 |
