胰腺位于上腹部腹膜后，呈长条状，长13～18cm，宽3～5cm，厚1.5～2.5cm，横过第1、2腰椎前方，其上界可达第12胸椎中1/3，下界抵第2～3腰椎椎间盘水平。除包围在十二指肠框内的头部较扁平外，余各部断面大体呈三棱形。胰腺是兼有内分泌和外分泌功能的器官。胰腺的外分泌物称为胰液，由胰腺的腺泡细胞和小的导管管壁细胞所分泌，含有多种重要的消化酶及水、电解质等物质。胰腺的内分泌物主要有胰岛素、胰高血糖素、胃泌素及生长抑素等，与机体内的营养代谢及调节有关。
