白草岭重叠的山峰下有一座云南历史文化名镇——石羊,又名“白井”。
石羊有古老的宝塔、整洁的街市与纯朴墩厚的民俗。而镇上辉煌的孔庙建筑群和庙内端坐了数百年的孔子铜像则让人们沉思惊叹。
石羊孔庙属省级重点文物保护单位，始建于明朝初年，历经６００多年的风雨，以大殿为主体，另有朱子阁、诵经阁、乡贤祠、月拱桥、大理石壁画、石刻等，占地面积近千平方米。建造古雅精密，整个寺庙层顶均用黄、红、绿三种琉璃覆盖。门雕花草、玲珑别致，龙凤狮虎，花鸟鱼虫，松柏藤葛，彩画工整，栩栩如生。庙内的孔子铜坐像，铸于康熙年代，历经９年完工，高2.3米，净重2.5吨，这是闻名遐迩的中国最大的孔子铜像。
孔庙周围美丽的风景，比如天台高眺、文殊夕照、宝岫朝烟、香河夜月、象岭燕方、柳暗春波、西谷早梅、鹿洞天清等让人们沉浸在对圣贤礼教的思索的同时，也享受了自然带给人们的美好感受。
