| 死谷 Dead Valley 位于美国加利福尼亚州东部内华达山脉东麓沙漠地区。1849年曾有一队寻找金矿的人迷入谷底，几致死亡，后脱险，故称死谷。构造上属断层地沟。西北-东南走向，长225千米，宽6～26千米。低于海平面的面积达1408平方千米。最低点海拔－85米，是西半球陆地最低点。谷地夏季气候炎热，平均气温52℃，绝对最高气温曾达56.7℃。年降水量不足100毫米。第四纪冰期后，谷底曾有一个很大的湖泊，后因气候干旱，逐渐干涸而成沙漠。分布有硼砂、铜、金、银、铝等矿藏。1933年美国在此建立死谷国家公园。 |
