    中国汉江最长支流。位于豫、鄂、陕三省边境一带。源出陕西省商州市西北的凤凰山东南麓,东南流,经河南省,到湖北省丹江口市入汉江。全长 390千米。河谷呈串珠状,峡谷与盆地相间,从丹江口溯江而上依次为江口峡谷、李家桥盆地、关防滩峡谷、紫荆关盆地等。下游,在沿豫鄂两省边界流行过程中,先后接纳了来自伏牛山南麓的许多河流,主要的有淅川、淇河等。多年平均径流量(西峡站) 9.107亿立方米,汛期(6~9月)占年径流量63.9%。1973年在下游建成丹江口水利枢纽工程。
