Directed molecular evolution of enzyme, originated in the beginning of the nineties of the last century, was a new strategy of protein engineering, which could rapidly modify proteins for specific purpose through imitating externally natural evolutions, as well as it has arisen a revolution in biocatalyst field.

The idea of directed molecular evolution is the extension and use of Darwinian Theory at molecular level.

In order to improve the catalytic properties of enzymes,the author and his group have devoted themselves to the researches of enzymatic molecular modification,enzyme immobilization,non-aqueous enzymatic catalysis and directed enzyme evolution in the past two decades,finding that the catalytic properties of enzymes such as activity and stability.
