性质:材料承受重复载荷作用的能力。金属及高聚物材料等在重复外力作用下,会引起力学强度下降以至破坏,所以疲劳性是这些材料的十分重要的物理性能。通常用疲劳试验法测得,并用疲劳寿命和疲劳强度来表征,前者为在一定重复载荷作用下,材料达到破坏所必需的循环次数;后者为经一定次数循环后将试样破坏时所需的最大应力值。两者的数值超高,材料的耐疲劳性越好。疲劳试验的加荷方式,在各种材料试验时往往不同,如橡胶常用定负荷压缩试验法和屈挠龟裂试验,塑料则以弯曲疲劳试验居多。
