【元照】
 (人名)杭州灵芝寺元照,字湛然,初依东藏慧鉴律师专学毗尼。后从神悟禅师讲天台之教观。复从广慈之才法佛受菩萨戒,博究南山之律宗。而意笃净业。每曰生弘律范,死归安养,平生所得,唯二法门而已。住灵芝三十年,宋徽宗政和六年九月一日寂。寿六十九。谥大智。唐太宗贞观中,终南山。澄照大律师道宣作戒疏羯磨疏事钞,弘四分律。流通逾四百载,释义近六十家。中大寺之昭庆律师允堪,作会正记,独为尽理。最后灵芝元照以法华开显圆意,作资持记,与会正记殊途,四分一宗由是分为两派。见往生传,佛祖统纪二十九,稽古略四。
