华北寒武系标准剖面分布在济南市长清区张夏镇和崮山镇,该剖面寒武纪地层发育,出露良好,三叶虫等古生物化石保存完好,笔者根据微体古生物牙形石的种属及其在地层中的分布序列,建立了上寒武统6个牙形石生物带,并根据牙形石"Cordylodus lindstromi"的首现,准确地确定了寒武系与奥陶系的界线;对寒武系长山阶的碳氧同位素曲线特征进行了分析,并把长山阶底部的碳同位素曲线与我国华南及哈萨克斯坦等国寒武系芙蓉统底部的碳同位素进行了对比,建立了华北寒武系与国内以及国外寒武系的对比关系。

由于Diceratocephalus已在华北的若干地点找到,如莱芜九龙山、淄博黑石寨和泰安大汶口,Dicerato-cephalus三叶虫亚带可以提升为三叶虫带,这样崮山阶便包含了4个三叶虫带(自上而下)Diceratoceph alusarma-tus带、Drepanura premesnili带、Blackwelderia paronai带和Damesella paronai带。

崮山位于蓬莱市境内艾山北面7公里处，距蓬莱市区38公里，是蓬莱、龙口、栖霞的界山，山势挺拔陡峭，怪石嶙峋，有“胶东小华山”之誉。崮山双峰并起，高入云端，南崮海拔510米，山巅有龙兴寺，尚存金代刻石多处。北崮海拔542米，有两条登山通道，其一顺巨石岩隙，蜿蜒而上，路窄坡陡，俗称“梯子口”；其二为人工开凿的盘石路，路一侧直临崖头，极其险峻。山巅平坦，有插旗顶、饮马湾、西校场、龙墩、绣墩等景点和古代屯兵足迹。
