金银器 gold and silver works 用金银制作的器物。金银有良好的延展性能,制作的器物造型精巧优美,装饰富丽多彩。古希腊、罗马、萨珊朝波斯、新罗等地金银工艺均很兴盛。最早的黄金制品见于公元前第5千纪埃及的拜达里文化,其后西亚的乌尔王陵(见乌尔城)和特洛伊城遗址出土有黄金器皿。银器则最早见于公元前第4千纪西亚的乌鲁克文化和埃及的格尔塞文化(见涅伽达文化)。中国在商代已有金银饰物,东周时期出现发达的金银镶嵌工艺。但金银器皿出现较晚,汉代以前的很少见到 ,至隋唐时期才有发展。中国古代的金银器主要出土于窖藏 、塔基和墓葬,种类包括酒器、食器、医药用具、日常器皿 、装饰品及佛教盛舍利的棺椁和幡、塔、造像等,工艺十分精湛。出土的北朝及唐代前期的部分金银器皿,在造型、纹饰等方面带有萨珊朝波斯的风格,说明中国的金银器皿曾受波斯金银器的影响。制造金银器的作坊历来是官府手工业的部门,金银器产品为上层统治阶级所占有,并用于赏赐、贡奉、施舍寺院等。
