膜结构是指构成膜的脂类和蛋白质的空间排列。图中的双层是脂类双分子层，具有很低的通透性，疏水部分的非极性端彼此相对。a是具有疏水与亲水两部分，分别与磷脂的疏水与亲水部分结合的嵌入蛋白；b是横跨脂类双层中的嵌入蛋白；c是分布于脂类双层中的嵌入蛋白；d乃周缘蛋白，它分布于脂类双分子层的表面；e为与嵌入蛋白相连接的周缘蛋白。
