用人工定向变异的方法或从自然界筛选出来的毒力高度减弱或基本无毒的活的微生物制成的预防制剂，又称减毒活疫苗。如卡介苗、麻疹疫苗、野兔热疫苗、脊髓灰质炎疫苗、鼠疫菌苗等。其优点是较安全，接种次数少，剂量小，免疫效果可靠、持久，一般可达3～5年。
