    在地震发生之前一段时间内出现,并能预示地震将要发生的自然现象和仪器反应。前者可由人直接观察得到,称为宏观前兆,后者只能用仪器检测,称为微观前兆。地震前兆在理论上是存在的 ,但在实际工作中尚未找到普遍适用的、可靠的前兆手段。已经发现的、认为可能是地震前兆的现象是从过去的大地震发生之前的异常现象中筛选出来的。它们可以试用,但不是每次都有效。已观测到的震前异常现象有:地壳形变异常、地震活动性异常,以及地震波、地磁、地电、地下水(或所含气体)异常,地声、地光、动物行为异常等。
