As a transcription factor,the c-Maf protein through the five downstream target genes:CCND2,ITGB7,CCR1,SPP1 and ARK5,is involved in cell cycle regulation,adhesion of tumor cells,tumor invasion and metastasis,angiogenesis and other aspects.
原癌基因c-maf在多发性骨髓瘤细胞中高水平表达,其编码的c-Maf蛋白作为转录因子,通过作用于5个下游靶基因CCND2、ITGB7、CCR1、SPP1和ARK5,与细胞周期调控、肿瘤细胞的黏附性、肿瘤侵袭和转移、血管发生等方面有关。

Maf family proteins are a large number of transcriptional factors which include a characteristic basic region and a leucine zipper(b-Zip)motif.
Maf家族蛋白是一群结构相似、具有典型的碱性结构域和b-Zip基序的转录因子,可以与细胞核内含有b-Zip基序的其他家族的转录因子结合形成同源或异源二聚体,再与DNA上的特异性序列Maf识别元件(Maf recognition elements,MARE)结合,调节相应基因转录。
