在材料保护技术中金属表面经化学或电化学处理所产生的金属化合物薄膜。在机械制造中应用较多的是铝的阳极氧化膜,钢铁上的磷酸盐膜,铝、锌、镉上的铬酸盐膜和钢铁上的发蓝膜等。此外,还有如普通钢上的草酸盐膜,可作为涂装时的前处理层。它能有效地保护基体不受亚硫酸腐蚀;不锈钢和其他含镍、铬等元素的高合金钢上的转化膜,有利于冷变形加工(拉管、拉丝、挤压)时提高拉速、加大断面收缩率、降低工具磨损。利用转化膜对镁制品进行保护的方法也很多。
