【植物形态】
陀螺紫菀 多年生草本，高50～100厘米。茎直立，基部带紫红色，有纵棱，并疏生短毛。基部叶花后雕落；中部叶互生，长椭圆状披针形或披针形，长10～12厘米，宽1.5～2.5厘米，先端短尖，基部呈圆耳状，无柄，半抱于茎，边缘具细齿，两面具短硬毛。头状花序单生于茎的上部叶腋；总苞倒圆锥形，苞片多层，卵状椭圆形，先端圆钝，边缘略带红色；花杂性，舌状花雌性，白色或略带碧紫色；管状花两性，黄色。瘦果倒卵形，冠毛白色。花期8～10月。果期10～11月。 生于向阳低山坡、丘陵疏林下、灌丛中及路边草地。分布安徽、江苏、浙江、江西、福建。 本植物的根(单头紫菀根)亦供药用，另详专条。
