The present study is an attempt to systematically study one of the most prevalent strategies adopted in CI-the use of additions.

This article mainly discusses the influences of cultural differences on the translation between English and Chinese,and proposes some means of compensation as well to get the purpose of functional equivalence.

The means of translational compensation for the missing or dislocation of cultural images mainly involve three types:compensation outside the text,compensation within the text,and compensation of replacement,which fall into two categories from the perspective of translators\' overall strategies:explicit compensation and implicit compensation.
