广东高考从2007年开始的一个科目。该科包括6个学科，即：物理、化学、生物、政治、历史、地理。考试的难度小于各专业科目，属于水平考试，而不是能力考试。目的之一是为了防止各中学不把必修课开齐。考试题75题，每题2分，共150分，120分钟完成。
基础科又分“文科基础”和“理科基础”。文科基础侧重于文科知识，即侧重于政治、历史、地理三科，这三科各占36分，而理化生各占14分；理科基础侧重于理科知识，即物理、化学、生物三科，这三科各占36分，而政史地各占14分。
基础科有点像之前的“综合科”，但与综合又有很大的区别。
基础科又叫文理基础。
