中坝乡位于县中部，总面积134．19平方公里，耕地3．07万亩，总人口15482人，有行政村17个，机关驻地集场坝(北纬34°03′，东经105°00′)，距县城30公里。
1941年始置碧玉乡，1983年恢复中坝乡建制。1949年为中坝乡，1958年建立中坝人民公社，该乡呈不规则长方形，地势西高东低，北面崇山峻岭，地陡土薄，有稀疏的灌木丛。碧玉河由西向东横穿其境，形成的河谷川地地势平坦，有效灌溉面积2660亩。粮食作物以小麦、玉米、洋芋为主，蚕豆、洋麦、荞麦、大豆、燕麦等次之。1990年粮食年总产3684．83吨，工农业总产值285．56万元，农民人均纯收入295．7元。
花椒、核桃为该地特产，并有竹木编织(尤以竹席闻名)。
礼县第三中学1所，小学25所，在校师生2000余人。乡有卫生院，村有医疗站。全乡有一半村可通汽车。
有集贸市场，山货交易较为活跃。
