疟原虫引起的传染病,有引起疟疾病凶险发作的可能,传播媒介是雌性按蚊。临床症状复杂而多样化。发热前寒战较少,可仅有畏寒,头痛、肌痛、恶心、呕吐、烦渴等症状较显著。热型多不规则。贫血和脾肿大显著,重症有黄疸和肝功能损害,并易致凶险发作。一般治疗同其他传染病。控制临床发作,可选用消灭病原体的药物如氯喹、奎宁、磷酸咯啶、磷酸咯萘啶、甲氧苄胺嘧啶等。
