| 南平（924～963） 中国五代时十国之一。又称荆南，一作北楚。高季兴（原名季昌）所建。都荆州（今湖北江陵），称江陵府。疆域仅荆、归（今湖北秭归）、峡（今湖北宜昌）三州，约为今湖北省巴东县至湖南省岳阳市间长江两侧的狭长地带。 高季兴为朱温部将。唐末，朱温势力已扩大至荆州。后梁开平元年（907)，朱温即帝位后，派高季兴赴任荆南节度使。荆南镇旧辖10州（一作8州），唐末，为邻道侵夺殆尽。高季兴到镇时，仅得江陵一城。季兴招集亡散军民，暗中准备割据。乾化四年（914），后梁封季兴为渤海王。后唐同光元年（923)，李存勖灭后梁，季兴入朝洛阳。次年，受封为南平王。后唐灭前蜀以后，季兴得到归、峡二州。当时，南方诸国彼此势均力敌，弱小的南平正是诸强避免直接冲突的缓冲地带；加之吴与南唐为阻止中原朝廷南进，封锁江淮漕路，江陵便成为南方诸国进贡中原、南北贸易的陆上交通中枢和五代时最大的茶市。南北复杂的政治、经济关系和南平的特殊的地理位置，使得南平虽四面受敌，但一直未被吞并。南平生产不能自给，靠通商获得财物。国主奉中原朝廷年号，同时对南北称帝各国一概上表称臣，远如闽、南汉、契丹也不例外，借以获得赏赐及维持商贸往来。 高季兴及其子高从诲（891～948)常截扣南方诸国进献中原朝廷的贡使、贡物，一旦对方遣使质问或发兵攻索，即归还请和。各国因称高从诲为高无赖。
南平地狭易控，政局较稳定。后唐天成三年十二月十五（929年1月28日），高季兴卒。明宗追封他为楚王，故南平又称北楚。同年，从诲继立。此后，高氏父死子嗣，兄终弟及，一直延续到宋初 。建隆四年（963），宋出兵湖南，假道江陵，高继冲（943～973）纳地归降，南平亡。 |
