下一代网络(NGN)关系到电信业的发展和未来,本文就下一代网络的若干方向性问题进行了研究,表达了作者的观点:目前全球电信业落入低谷的根本原因是没有提供电信界所期待的、适合人们需要的、能刺激电信业发展的新业务与应用;下一代网络应该担负起视频通信(视频流媒体传输)的历史使命;下一代网络需要新的理论来指导;建立万能综合业务网络的想法违背了最基本的哲学原理;下一代视频流媒体网络采用什么样的交换技术,需要创新;采用Internet+QoS构建的下一代网络是很难提供高质量的视频流媒体业务;电信界有必要从未来电信发展的战略高度,实事求是地研究NGN的业务定位问题,避免产生方向性的错误。
