| 海洋内波 ocean internal waves 密度稳定层结的海洋水体内部的波动。内波和表面波不同，最大的振幅发生在海面以下。它是一种重力波，或称为内惯性重力波。这种波动很缓慢，相速不足1米／秒。通常的内波 ，振 幅为几米至几十米 ，波长近百米至几十千米，周期几分钟至几十小时。它是引起海水混合、形成细微结构的重要原因。内波是一种重要的海水运动，它将海洋上层的能量传至深层，又把深层较冷的海水连同营养物带到较暖的浅层，促进生物的生息繁衍。内波导致等密度面的波动，使声速的大小和方向均发生改变，对声呐的影响极大，有利于潜艇在水下的隐蔽；对海上设施也有破坏作用。1893～1896年北极探险过程中，F.南森发现船只莫名其妙地减速，经研究得知，船只航行在很浅的密度跃层上方时，其动力造成在跃层处产生内波，船只的动能被消耗，因此显著减速。这种现象称为死水。由于对密度跃层的观测困难，研究的进展很慢，到了20世纪40年代后，由于温深仪及各种快速取样仪器的发明，对内波的调查才迅速开展起来。这项研究与生产和军事都有密切的关联。 |
