古城秦简，神秘里耶
里耶，位于湖南省武陵山腹地，湘、鄂、渝、黔四省市在此交界，隶属湘西土家族苗族自治州龙山县，土家语是开拓这片土地的意思。早在距今6000年前，就有人类居住。虽有神奇的自然风光和奇特的民族风情，但交通的不便使其经济文化一直较为落后，是一个偏僻小镇。
里耶在酉水中游的两侧，分属龙山与保靖两县，酉水之东的属龙山，大而富的老商埠，一般讲里耶即此。北西边保靖的，依山，规模要小得多，近于村子。
酉水贯穿湖北、重庆、湖南三省市，是洞庭湖水系中沅江的最大支流，流经之地山高路险，峡谷幽深，历来就是三省市交界处人民通向长江中下游平原的交通要道。里耶镇发现的古城就在酉水中游的咽喉地带。
