However, the fact that the research of Xu Wei s poetry and prose lags behind that of his Zaju,calligraphy and paintings, that literature research and art research cannot benefit from each other and that much research gets duplicated in vain has undoubtedly set a blockage to the greater achievements in the research on Xu Wei.
