代理商在国际贸易中从事代理业务活动的商人或企业。分为总代理人、一般代理人、独家代理人、储货代理人、运输代理人。与中国进出口业务关系较密切的几种代理人有:①总代理人即在当地市场上可作为货主的全权代表，因其权力很大，中国外贸公司一般不能委托外商担任.而只委托中国驻外商务机构、驻外企业在当地或指定地区作为总代理人。②一般代理商。即在同一地区、同一时期内，委托人可以选定一家或几家客户作为一般代理人，根据推销商品的实绩，支付事先规定的相应佣金或补偿费用。③独家代理人。是一种狭义代理人的概念.通常只限于商业活动在国际贸易中，这类代理人占多数。独家代理协议规定代理人在指定地区、特定时期享有代理销售商品的专营权。独家代理人依独家代理协议而行事。
