The anthropology of sex aims to give a systematic description and analysis of the sexual practice in the tribal societies and other backward non-Western cultures.
性人类学主要针对部落社会以及其他技术不发达的非西方文化中的性实践进行系统的描述和分析,关注的主要是生物的、心理的因素和产生性爱冲动、性吸引以及某种特定性行为的文化因素之间的互动关系,研究的要旨在于说明人类性生活方式的差异从一开始就存在,性的含义取决于特定文化及社会情景的塑造,人们附加在某种性行为偏好上的意义都是由社会和文化赋予的。
