【来源】
为龙舌兰科植物剑麻的叶。
【植物形态】
剑麻 多年生半木质状粗壮植物。须根根系发达，地下茎横走白色，有节，肉质柔软。茎短。叶厚，肉质，剑形，长100～150厘米，宽8～13厘米，先端具红褐色硬刺，刺长2～3厘米，边缘有短刺。花茎高5～10米。圆锥花序顶生，花被筒状漏斗形，先端分裂，淡黄白色；雄蕊6；子房下位，花后萼座逐渐膨大，形成丛珠芽，通常不结实。蒴果长圆形。种子黑色扁平。生长6～9年后或10～15年后秋季开花。花后果熟，植株即枯死。 生于高温多湿、雨量均匀的高坡处。我国南方及西南地区有栽培。

【化学成分】
叶含多种甾体皂甙，从水解物中得新替告皂甙元、海柯皂甙元、剑麻皂甙元、绿莲皂甙元、洛柯皂甙元、12-表洛柯皂甙元等多种甾体皂甙元，还含β-谷甾醇、5α-娠烷-3α，20β-二醇。
【功用主治】
清凉散毒，排脓。鲜叶捣敷治痈肿疮疡。
