| 雀鲷科 Pomacentridae；damselfishes 鲈形目的一科。 有25属235种。体呈圆形或近于圆形，侧扁；口前位，略能向前伸出；齿锐尖呈锥形或侧扁呈门齿状；犁骨与腭骨均无齿；下咽骨愈合，略呈三角形；头部各侧仅有一鼻孔；假鳃存在。鳃盖膜多少愈合；鳃盖条骨5～7；体被以栉鳞；侧线不完全，前部为有管鳞组成，在背侧延伸，后部在尾柄正中，为一纵行小孔；背鳍具9～14鳍棘，臀鳍具2鳍棘。为世界性分布的热带海洋鱼类，在中国主要分布于南海，部分可达东海。中国产雀 鲷科鱼类6属约60余种。雀鲷科鱼类多为小形热带性鱼类，以小形无脊椎动物为食。有些种类体色颇为美丽。
