Covered by the Quaternary System ,and controlled by Nanliu fracture, the Dawenkou basin composed of Da Wenkou formation of Guanzhuang Group ,paleogene System.
大汶口盆地岩盐矿均为第四系所覆盖,钻孔揭露,除第四系外,主要为古近系官庄群大汶口组。

| 大汶口遗址 中国黄河下游地区新石器时代遗址。中国全国重点文物保护单位。位于山东泰安大汶口镇。面积82万平方米，文化堆积厚2～3米。1959年发现并由山东省文物管理处和济南市博物馆 组织发掘。1974～1978年又由山东省文化局组织发掘。考古学界将该遗址的主要遗存及与其相类同的文化遗存命名为大汶口文化。
