【烧香】
 (仪式)五种供养及六种供养之一。世谛所释,则为拂邪气,请神灵。第一义谛所释,则为使所修之功德,周遍一切处。陔余丛考三十三曰:“李相之贤已集,因谓烧香始于佛图澄。襄国城堑水源暴竭,石勒问澄,澄曰:今当敕龙取水。乃烧安息香,咒数百言,水大至云。然烧香实不自此始。三国志孙策谓张津著绛帕头烧香读道书。又江表传,道士于吉来吴会立精舍,烧香读道书。则汉末道家已用之。又按汉武故事,昆邪王杀休屠王,以其众来降。得其金人之神。其祭不用牛羊,惟烧香礼拜。则烧香之始于佛家可知。”大日经疏八曰:“烧香是遍至法界义,如天树王开敷时,香气逆风顺风自然遍布。菩提香亦尔,随一一功德,即为慧火所烧,解脱风所吹,随悲愿力自在而转普熏一切,故曰烧香。”(参见:香)。按行法中有五处之烧香。第一初入道场,见法会圣众,五体投地,礼拜恭敬,此时应先烧香。第二为引入己身,行者先于身上观月轮,于月轮中现本尊身,为供此所现之佛身而烧香。第三为供道场所布列之诸尊而烧香。第四正念诵时,现对本尊为此法,故为供彼尊而烧香。第五观念了后,为奉送本尊而烧香。
