品价格是在商品交换过程中形成的。在生产力水平极端低下的原始社会，原始族落共同劳动获得的产品仅够维持自己族落成员的生存，拿不出剩余产品去交换以获得其他族落的劳动产品。到了原始社会后期，生产力水平有了很大提高，族落的劳动产品有了剩余，出现了劳动产品的交换享用。社会分工的出现，使得交换变得更加频繁。商品在交换过程中便形成了物与物之间的一定交换比例，即商品的价格。
