| 吴承恩(约1500～约1582) 中国明代小说家。字汝忠，号射阳山人。先世江苏涟水，后徙淮安山阳(今江苏淮安)。出身于世代书香后败落为小商人的家庭。曾祖吴铭、祖父吴贞曾分别任过县学训导、教谕。其父吴锐，家境贫寒，以经营绸布为生。虽为商人，却喜读书，六经诸子百家莫不观览。
吴承恩自幼敏慧好学，博极群书，年轻时即以文名著于乡里。早年曾希望以科举进身，但屡试不第。中年以后才补为岁贡生。曾任长兴县丞职，不久因“耻折腰”，遂拂袖而归(天启《淮安府志》)。后来又一度受任与县丞品级相近而为闲职的荆府纪善。晚年归居故里，放浪诗酒，贫病以终。吴承恩在中国文学史上产生巨大影响的是他的长篇小说《西游记》，其创作的时期不可确考，一般认为是晚年所作。 吴承恩一生诗、文、词创作甚多，但因无子嗣，死后大部亡佚。后由丘度搜集残存之稿，编订成《射阳先生存稿》4卷，包括诗1卷，散文3卷，卷四末附小诗38首。 |
