| 榴弹炮 howitzer 身管较短、弹道较弯曲的火炮。榴弹炮的初速较小；射角较大，弹丸的落角也大，杀伤和爆破效果好采用多级变装药，能获得不同的初速，便于在较大纵深内实施火力机动。它适于对水平目标射击，主要用于歼灭、压制暴露的和隐蔽的（遮蔽物后面的）有生力量和技术兵器，破坏工程设施、桥梁、交通枢纽等，是地面炮兵的主要炮种之一。20世纪60年代以来，榴弹炮已发展到炮身长为口径的30～44倍，初速达827米／秒，最大射角达75°， 发射制式榴弹，最大射程达24500米，发射火箭增程弹最大射程达3万米。由于榴弹炮的性能有了显著提高，能遂行同口径加农炮的任务，因而有些国家已用榴弹炮代替加农炮。
