德意志联邦共和国国家图书馆。成立于1946年，设在美因河畔法兰克福。最初由书商协会经营，1949年后，法兰克福市和黑森州相继给予财政援助，1952年联邦政府开始拨款，三方各提供经费的三分之一。1969年后经费完全由联邦政府负担。其领导机构是由馆内外11人组成的理事会，馆长执行理事会的决议。馆长、副馆长以下设总务部、一般管理部、电子计算机部、收集部、目录部、主题目录部、书目部、阅览部、参考部、流亡者资料部和音乐资料馆等10个部门。1987年有工作人员323人。
该馆可得到全国出版物的缴送本。1987年拥有图书276.5万册；期刊57.2万册；其他资料64.3万册。1945年5月8日(德国战败日)以后的国内出版物及外国出版的德文文献基本收藏齐全。还收藏1933～1945年德国及德语国家流亡者的著作、书信、手稿以及德语图书的外文译本以及音乐资料等。
全馆有阅览座位190个。1987年登记读者12363人,馆内出借24万册次，解答咨询 2.2万件。出版物有《德国书目》(每周目录)(见德国国家书目)。
