性质：板式换热器的一种。由许多单片的金属所组成。其操作原理与板框压滤机很相像。金属板间的周边用橡胶垫起。以防止液体泄漏和使两板间有一定的空隙。冷、热流体在每块金属板的两侧进行换热。金属板组的两端用两块很厚的夹板夹住。为了增加流体在板间流动的扰动，以提高换热效果，板面上可制成各种形式的波纹。金属板可用不锈钢、铝、钛普通碳钢等薄板冲压而成。优点是：（1）换热效率高；（2）设备紧凑；（3）传热面积大；（4）装拆方便，容易调节。缺点是：（1）设备必须注意密封；（2）金属片薄，两种流体的压力差不能太大。目前多用钛制作，俗称钛平板式换热器。
