分级接触传质设备的一种类型，是由若干相同的单级传质设备联成的整体。当单级操作不能满足组分分离要求时，可将几个单级设备串联起来，使物料依次通过各级，以提高分离效果。传质分离过程所用的级联，一般是逆流的，即一相从第一级进入，流至末级排出；另一相则从末级进入，流至第一级排出。在特殊场合，也可以用错流的级联，即一相从第一级依次流到末级，另一相则分成多股，各自单独地流经一级。
