松焦油又称松明油、松根焦油、木焦油，是一种复杂的化合物，主要成分是邻甲氧基苯酚、甲酚、苯酚、邻乙基苯酚、松节油和松脂等。深褐色至黑色粘稠液体或半固体，有特殊气味。密度1．01～1.07，凝固点21℃，沸点240～400℃，挥发分＜6％。溶于乙醇、乙醚、甲苯、氯仿、冰醋酸、挥发油、氢氧化钠溶液。
用作氯丁橡胶密封胶的软化剂。贮存于阴凉、通风的库房内，远离火种、热源，注意防水，不可曝晒，以防爆炸。
