影像学术语。照片的模拟影像上相邻两点间的光学密度(D1、D2)之差。其值等于照片上相邻两点透光强度(I1、I2)之比的对数值。胶片对比度为一综合性概念，包括胶片固有对比度和影像对比度。前者与胶片性能、曝光条件和暗室操作等有关，存在于各种成像方式中；后者则主要与成像技术有关。不同成像技术所摄之照片的影像对比度的内涵不同。如传统X线照片的对比度反映人体组织对X线的衰减特性；超声照片对比度反映组织的声学特性；MRI则反映组织内氢核弛豫时间(T1，T2)和质子密度的差异。对比度可以累积，如医用X线胶片由双面乳剂层组成，所观察到的对比度是单面乳剂层对比度的两倍。影像的模糊度、噪声和失真等因素可致对比度下降。对比度又称照片对比度(contrast gradient of film)、光学对比度(optical contrast gradient)或物理对比度(physic contrast gradient)。
