中国羽毛球运动的全国性群众组织，是中华全国体育总会领导下的单项运动协会之一，于1957年成立。从70年代开始，中国羽协与亚、欧、美、澳、非等各洲的交往频繁。1977年 4月，亚洲羽联委托中国羽协举办了第1届亚洲羽毛球教练员训练班。1978年5月，中国羽协接受亚洲羽联委托在北京举办了第 3届亚洲羽毛球邀请赛。1979年 6月，中国羽协受世界羽毛球联合会的委托在杭州举办了第1届世界杯团体赛和第2届世界羽毛球锦标赛。中国羽毛球协会下设教练委员会、规则裁判委员会、科学技术研究委员会、器材设备委员会。现任主席是朱仄。
