形态特征:紫草科滇紫草属多年生草本植物，高20-30厘米，被毛，硬毛基部具基盘。茎单一或数条丛生，不分枝。基生叶倒披针形，长5-15厘米，宽5-15毫米，被毛，茎生叶无柄，披针形。7-8月开花，花序单生茎顶，花多数，密生;苞片狭披针形;花萼裂片钻形；长10-15毫米 花冠紫色或红紫色，长3-3.5厘米，花丝着生花冠筒上2/3处。
生境分布:生于海拔3020-44700米的山坡砾石地、砂地草丛及阳坡灌丛草地。分布于西藏。
用途：根药用，具清热凉血、消肿解毒之功效，主治丹毒、麻疹、急性膀胱炎、尿道炎、痈肿、烧烫伤以及气管炎、高血压等症。
