法国作家。法国文学史上通称杜尔菲。贵族家庭出身。当过骑士。宗教战争时期,加入天主教联盟一方,为反对昂利第四继承王位而作战。昂利第四胜利后，他退隐家乡,潜心写作。起初写作田园诗篇和道德诗简,后致力于长篇小说《阿斯特雷》的创作。《阿斯特雷》全书共分5部,每部12册。前3部在他生前发表，第4部在他死后印出,第5部由他的秘书巴罗根据他的笔记遗稿整理完成。这部散文和韵文相间的小说，以牧童赛拉东和牧羊女阿斯特雷经过曲折而终成夫妇的爱情为主要线索，穿插大量故事以及有关爱情和政治的议论，既富于奇妙的想象，也有对当代生活、特别是对贵族社交生活的写照。虽然故事发展缓慢，结构松散,但心理描写细腻,又符合16世纪上半叶有教养的贵族的多愁善感的趣味，在贵族沙龙中影响颇大。从中世纪骑士文学发展到后来的爱情小说，它起了承前启后的作用，开法国古典小说的先河。
